Fionn MacCool's Menu With Prices In Canada

Fifteen of the 149 rows on the Fionn MacCool's menu are dipping sauces, and every one of them costs a flat dollar. It is a small detail that sets the tone for a pub list where the extras are priced with unusual clarity and the mains sit in a tight band from $17 to $24.

Start with those extras, because 30 items on this menu come in under $5 and the Sauces & Dips section supplies half of them. Chipotle mayo, Dungloe, honey dill, honey garlic, honey mustard, hot, medium, mild, plum, ranch, sour cream, burger sauce, cilantro pepita dressing, Jameson BBQ and hot & honey are all $1.00. Only salsa is priced by size, at $1.75 small and $3.50 large.

The 24-row Sides list is the other cheap corner, and it stretches further than most: garlic bread $3.00, side gravy and side rice $3.50 apiece, lattice-cut fries and a side Caesar $5.00 each, side poutine and pub-style fries $6.00, sweet potato fries $7.50. The same section also sells protein add-ons — grilled chicken or shrimp at $6.00, 4 oz salmon at $10.00, 8 oz at $15.00 — which is the widest single spread in any section here.

Portion doubling is explicit and consistent. One piece of Famous Fish & Chips is $19.00 and two pieces are $25.00; the vegetarian Phish & Chips does exactly the same, $19.00 to $25.00. A pound of Famous Wings, beer battered or naked, is $18.00 and a pound and a half is $26.00. Bavarian Bratt is $17.00 for one and $24.00 for two.

Mains cluster tightly. Eleven Burgers run $17.00 for the Jalapeno Grilled Cheese to $24.00 for the Whiskey Glazed Pork Belly Burger, with most landing at $20.00. Pubs Classic covers $17.00 to $34.00, where Steak Frites is the ladder — $28.00 plain, $33.00 with garlic butter mushrooms, $34.00 with garlic butter shrimp. Every one of the five Kids dishes is $11.00, and three of the four Desserts are $10.00.

The ceiling is Irish Classics for Two at $42.00, followed by the Rib, Fried Fish and Chicken Wing Trio at $35.00 and a full rack of ribs at $34.00. At the very bottom, canned Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Ginger Ale are $1.49 — cheaper than any dip except a single sauce.
