Of the 205 dishes Hakka Legend lists, exactly one costs less than $5 — a bowl of Steamed Rice at $2.50. That single statistic tells you almost everything about how this Indian-Chinese kitchen prices: nearly nothing here is a snack, and nearly everything is a plate.
A $14.23 mean across 205 dishes is high for this kind of kitchen, and it stays there because the big protein sections are priced as blocks. Every Seafood dish built on prawns — fourteen of them, from Bombay Prawns to Prawns with Snow Peas & Fresh Mushrooms — is $18.25. Every fish and calamari dish in the same section is $16.95. In Chicken, seventeen of the 22 entries are $15.95 and the dry-fried exceptions (Bombay Chicken, Crispy Ginger Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Mango Chicken) are $16.95. Beef splits the same way: $17.95 for the three dry preparations, $17.50 for the eleven saucy ones.
The $11 lunch is the whole value story
All 29 Lunch Specials, numbered A1 through A29, cost $11.00 flat. That is not a discount off one dinner dish, it is a discount off almost all of them at once — A16 Crispy Ginger Chicken or Beef sits opposite a $16.95 Crispy Ginger Chicken on the dinner list, and A10 Beef with Broccoli replaces a $17.50 plate. Several of the specials, including A15 Thai curry and A27 through A29, carry a vegetarian option at the same $11.00.
Soup is where the sizing gets blunt
The 26-item Soup section is thirteen recipes offered twice. Regular is $6.50 and Large is $14.50 for every single one — Manchurian, Hot & Sour, Corn, Manchow, Thai and Wonton alike. That is a $8.00 step, so a large costs more than double a regular, which is an unusually steep size premium on a menu where most other things are priced flat.
Where a smaller order is possible
Only 21 items come in under $10, and they cluster in Appetizers. Fried Vegetable Spring Rolls are $5.00 for three pieces, shrimp or curry chicken spring rolls $5.50 for two, and fifteen Fried Shrimp or Chicken Wontons are $8.95 — the largest quantity you can buy for single digits. Onion Rings are $8.50 and French Fries $7.50. Rice and Noodles hold the mid-range: Egg Fried Rice, Vegetable Fried Rice and Mushroom Fried Rice are all $12.95, as is a Vegetable Hakka Noodle, while Cantonese Chow Mein with seafood tops that section at $17.95.
The Vegetarians section is the quietest bargain on the menu. Beansprout Chop Suey, Manchurian Vegetable Balls and Stir Fried Mixed Vegetables are $11.95 each — cheaper than any chicken dish and cheaper than most of the noodles.
Do prices vary across Canada?
Hakka Legend is a small operation rather than a national chain, so the board here reflects a single style of menu rather than a system-wide standard. Independent Indian-Chinese kitchens in the GTA adjust their entrée pricing more often than the big franchises do, and third-party delivery apps typically list these dishes above the in-store figure to cover their commission. Sales tax is added on top of everything shown.
