Mr. Sub Menu With Prices in Canada

Mr. Sub sorts its sandwiches into six named tiers — Classic, Select, Protein Packed, Mighty Meatless, Signature and Premium — and the whole 87-item menu is really a question of which tier you land in and whether you take the small or the large. The distance between the cheapest sub and the dearest is $10.38.

The tiers stack cleanly. A Classic sub is $6.09 to $6.39 small and $9.19 to $9.49 large: Veggie & Cheese sits at the bottom, Assorted, Pizza, Ham and Italian Salami just above. Select opens lower still on the Meatball at $7.29 but reaches highest of any tier, because it holds the Double Stacked Smoked Meat Sub at $10.97 small and $16.47 large — the most expensive item on the menu, and $5.50 more than the ordinary Smoked Meat large at $11.19.

Between them, Protein Packed subs — Turkey, Albacore Tuna, Seafood, BLT and Roast Beef & Cheddar — are $7.49 to $7.99 small and a flat $10.79 large. Mighty Meatless is $8.19 and $11.49 for both the Gardein Meatless Meatball and the Tex-Mex Black Bean. Signature runs $8.49 to $8.69 small and $12.09 large across Grilled Chicken, Spicy Breaded Chicken, Canadian Club, Chicken Parm and Buffalo Chicken. Premium is the top of the ordinary range: Steak & Cheese, Ultimate Club and Louisiana Pepper Chicken, all $8.79 and $12.29.

What the large actually buys

The small-to-large step widens as you move up the tiers — about $3.00 to $3.10 on a Classic, $3.30 on Protein Packed, $3.30 on Mighty Meatless, $3.40 to $3.60 on Signature, $3.50 on Premium. What you get for it is arithmetically simple: every large sub on this menu is listed at exactly twice the calories of its small. Steak & Cheese is 320 and 640, Chicken Parm 510 and 1020, BLT 310 and 620. There is no in-between size, and no six-inch-versus-footlong ambiguity in the numbers.

The section that is not a price tier

Raised Without Antibiotics (RWA) Meats is a 13-item section, and none of its prices are new. Turkey, Canadian Club, Pizza, Assorted, Ultimate Club and Ham subs appear there at exactly the figures they carry in their own tiers — $6.39 and $9.39 for Ham, $8.79 and $12.29 for Ultimate Club — along with the $9.09 Chipotle Turkey & Bacon Wrap. It is a sourcing label collected into one list, not a premium range.

The three Speciality Wraps are priced between the tiers, at $9.09 for the South West Thai Chicken and Chipotle Turkey & Bacon and $9.39 for the Peppery Chicken Caesar — roughly a Classic large. Entree Salads are $7.19 for Greek or Garden and $7.99 for Caesar. All three Kids' Meals are $6.69.

The odd two-item section at the front

Featured contains no sandwiches at all. It is two bottles of sauce — 68 Sub Sauce and 68 Spicy Sub Sauce, both $6.99 — which makes it the only place on the menu where you can spend more than a Classic small without eating anything. At the other extreme, a single cookie at $1.14 is the cheapest item here; two are $1.99 and three $2.52, so the per-cookie price falls from $1.14 to $1.00 to $0.84 as you buy more.

Do prices vary across Canada?

Mr. Sub stores are franchised and each operator prices their own restaurant, so a highway service centre, a mall food court and a neighbourhood strip-plaza location can all charge differently for the same sub. Prices shown are before GST, HST or PST, and third-party delivery menus generally carry a mark-up over the in-store board. The tier ordering — Classic under Protein Packed under Signature under Premium — is the structure that stays put.
