Thai Express Menu With Prices In Canada

There is one number that unlocks the Thai Express menu: $14.08. Curry, Fried Rice, Stir-Fry, Pad Thaï, Pad See Ew, both large soups, the Shak-a-Bowl — and every gluten-friendly and vegan version of those dishes — all cost exactly that. Choosing differently within the main-dish half of this menu costs nothing at all.

The exceptions are worth naming precisely, because they are the only decisions on the menu that move money. Anything carrying the General Thaï branding steps up to $15.68: General Curry, General Thaïracha, General Thaï Pineapple and General Thaï Mango. The seasonal General Thaï Pad Thai is $15.18, and the Peanut Coco Bowl $14.08 — back at the base rate.

That flat structure is why Gluten Friendly Dishes and Vegan Dishes read as duplicate sections. Gluten-Friendly Pad Thaï, Vegan Pad Thaï and ordinary Pad Thaï are all $14.08. Same for Fried Rice, Stir-Fry and Pad See Ew. Nine dishes in Signature Thai Dishes, five gluten-friendly, four vegan — and the only price difference across all 18 is the General Thaï premium.

Soups are priced by size, sharply

A Mini Tom Yum or Mini Thaï Soup is $6.60. The full-size version of either is $14.08 — the same as a main course, and more than double the mini. That is the biggest proportional step anywhere on this menu, and it is the reason the mini soups appear again in the Combo section.

Combos are where the cheap meals hide

Eight combos pair a small item with a bottled drink, and they are the only way to eat here for under $7. An Imperial Roll & Bottled Drink Combo is $4.75 — cheaper than most single dishes and only $2.25 more than the $2.50 Imperial Roll on its own. Steamed Dumplings, Fried Dumplings and Fresh Veggie Roll combos are $7.25 each, the Mango Salad combo $7.50, the Fresh Shrimp Roll combo $8.25, and the two mini-soup combos $9.00.

Compare that with buying separately: Steamed Chicken Dumplings are $5.70 and a bottled soft drink is $3.10, so the $7.25 combo saves $1.55. The mini-soup combos are the weakest of the eight — $6.60 plus $3.10 is $9.70 against $9.00.

Wings, and the rest of the appetizer list

Thai Chicken Wings step by three: $6.10 for 3 pieces, $9.70 for 6, $14.55 for 9. That is $2.03, $1.62 and $1.62 a wing — the jump from 3 to 6 is where the value is, and there is nothing further to gain by going to 9.

The rest of Appetizers is short and cheap: Imperial Roll $2.50, Fresh Spring Roll $5.58, dumplings either steamed or fried at $5.70, Mango Salad $5.98, and the General Thaï Bok Bok Bag at $6.65.

Drinks bottom out at $2.00 for bottled water and $2.75 for tea, with a 591 mL soft drink at $3.10 and the Pandan Thai Iced Tea highest at $6.70. Desserts are three items — Fried Banana $3.50, and the Chocolate Banana Cake and White Chocolate Cheesecake with Pineapple at $7.05 each.

Do prices vary across Canada?

Thai Express is a franchised quick-service brand with a large share of its counters in food courts, shopping centres and campuses, and those landlords' rents feed straight into the till price — so a mall counter and a standalone store can list the same $14.08 dish differently. Seasonal Specials rotate and are not carried at every location. Prices exclude GST, QST, HST and PST as applicable in your province.

Thai Express — frequently asked questions

Why do so many Thai Express dishes cost the same?
Because the main-dish half of the menu is flat-priced at $14.08 — Curry, Fried Rice, Stir-Fry, Pad Thaï, Pad See Ew, the Shak-a-Bowl and the full-size soups all sit there, as do every gluten-friendly and vegan version of them. Only the General Thaï dishes break it, at $15.68.
Do vegan or gluten-friendly dishes cost more at Thai Express?
No. Vegan Pad Thaï, Gluten-Friendly Pad Thaï and the standard Pad Thaï are all $14.08, and the same holds for Fried Rice, Stir-Fry and Pad See Ew.
Is a Thai Express combo cheaper than ordering separately?
Usually. Steamed Chicken Dumplings are $5.70 and a bottled soft drink $3.10 — $8.80 apart, against $7.25 for the combo. The mini-soup combos are the one case where it is close: $9.00 for the combo against $9.70 bought separately.
How much are Thai chicken wings?
$6.10 for 3, $9.70 for 6 and $14.55 for 9. The per-wing rate drops from about $2.03 to about $1.62 between the 3-piece and the 6-piece, then stays flat at 9.
What is the cheapest thing you can order at Thai Express?
Bottled water at $2.00, then an Imperial Roll at $2.50. The cheapest thing that comes with a drink is the Imperial Roll & Bottled Drink Combo at $4.75.
