Kelseys Original Roadhouse Menu With Prices In Canada

On-Ramp Appies. The Side Lane. Detour to Desserts. Kelsey's names its sections after a highway, and behind the conceit is a fairly disciplined price structure — 118 items where the sides climb in fifty-cent steps and the kids' menu does not vary at all.

The Side Lane is the clearest example, and at 19 items it is tied for the largest section on the menu. Everything in it sits on one of six prices. $3.49 buys celery and carrots or a garden or Caesar salad. $3.99 buys chip truck fries, kettle chips, rice, southwest rice, mashed potatoes or steamed veggies. $4.49 moves you to onion rings, sweet potato fries or angry fries; $4.98 to a baked potato or angry kettle chips; $5.98 to any of the four "loaded" versions — fries, kettle chips, baked potato or mashed potatoes. Poutine tops the section at $5.99. Loading a side costs a flat $1.99 over its plain form in every case.

The salad matrix

Big ol' Bowls is the other 17-item section, and eleven of those items are three salads sold four ways. A Caesar Salad is $14.49 on its own, a Beet & Goat Cheese or Sonoma Salad $14.99. Add chicken or shrimp and the Caesar becomes $19.49 while the other two become $19.99 — a $5.00 step. Add steak and the numbers go $22.49, $21.49 and $22.99, which means steak costs $3.00 more than chicken on a Caesar but only $1.50 more on a Beet & Goat Cheese. The remaining six items in the section are pastas and curry bowls between $20.49 and $23.99.

Where the range ends

Roadhouse Classics carries the ceiling. A Full Rack of Ribs is $35.99, the most expensive item on this menu; an 8 oz Chili Garlic Shrimp Sirloin is $35.49 and a Balsamic Mushroom Sirloin $33.49 against $30.99 for the plain 8 oz Classic Sirloin, so the two sirloin upgrades cost $2.50 and $4.50. A half rack of ribs is $25.99, exactly $10.00 below the full one.

At the bottom, a Takeaway Cookie at $1.99 is the cheapest thing here, and it sits in the Lunch Menu section — which is otherwise a 14-item selection of dishes already priced elsewhere, plus four small side salads at $4.98 and $5.98 and a $3.49 garlic cheese toast.

Flat-priced sections

Three sections do not vary at all. All seven Kids items are $9.99, from a hamburger to a cheese pizza to rotini with grilled chicken. All three desserts are $8.99 — white chocolate cheesecake, funnel cake fries and a messy cookie sandwich. Chicken Your Way is nearly flat too: three different chicken bites dinners all land on $21.48, with a chicken fingers dinner at $19.98 and wing dinners at $22.48 for ten and $29.98 for fifteen.

Burly Burgers is tighter than most burger sections anywhere: five of the eight are $21.99, the Patty Melt is $20.99, and both build-your-own options — beef and Roadhouse LightLife — are $19.99. The plant-based Bourbon BBQ Bacon LightLife Burger is $21.99, the same as its beef equivalents.

Do prices vary across Canada?

Kelsey's locations are operated under franchise across Ontario and beyond, and menu boards are set locally, so a roadhouse off a highway exit and one in a downtown core will not always match. Lunch versions of a dish can be portioned differently from the dinner listing even where the name is identical. Every figure quoted here is before tax and before any gratuity. The internal steps — the $1.99 to load a side, the $5.00 protein add — are the part that travels.

Chicken or shrimp adds $5.00 to any of the three salads. Steak adds $8.00 to a Caesar, $6.50 to a Beet & Goat Cheese and $8.00 to a Sonoma — so a Steak Sonoma Salad at $22.99 is the dearest salad on the menu.
