Sushi Shop Menu With Prices in Canada

Almost nothing on the Sushi Shop menu is priced as a dish — it is priced as a piece count. 244 listings carry a number in brackets, and once you can read that bracket the whole 26-section menu turns into arithmetic: how many pieces, at what rate.

The clearest illustration is the Platters section, which is only four lines long but shows the rate falling as the count climbs. Chef's Choice at 50 pieces is $68.95, which works out near $1.38 a piece. The 75-piece is $89.95, or roughly $1.20. The 100-piece — the most expensive single item anywhere on this menu at $114.95 — lands around $1.15. There is also a 52-piece Deluxe at $75.00, priced above the plain 50 because of what is in it rather than how much.

Rolls are sorted by shape, not by fish

Six separate sections split the rolls by construction, and the piece count moves with each one. Hosomaki come in 6 pieces and start at $4.95 for a regular Kappa; Sumomaki come in 5 and run $6.50 for the Vegetarian up to $12.95 for the Dragon Eye; Maki come in 8 and go from $6.95 for a California Classic to $12.95 for the Red Tiger, Black Mamba and Twin Salmon. Nigiri and sashimi are the only place you buy in ones and twos — Ebi at $4.25, Izumidai $4.50, Syake $5.25, Maguro $6.25.

Maki Pairings is the section that exists purely to bundle: six lines, each combining two 8-piece rolls into one order. Dragon & Teriyaki Chicken and Red Tiger & California Classic are both $9.95, against $10.95 for Viper & 911 and $12.95 for Black Mamba & Vancouver.

Bowls, tacos and the twelve combos

Poke Bowls are priced by protein and nothing else. Veggie is the floor at $13.95, Chicken & Mango $14.95, Spicy Shrimp $15.95, most salmon bowls $17.95, and Tuna and Spicy Tuna share the ceiling at $19.95.

Sushi Tacos step by the taco: Salmon is $7.95 for two and $9.95 for three, Tuna $8.95 and $10.95, Lobster $14.95 and $19.95 — the lobster step is $5, more than double either of the others. Sushi Burritos come as 2 pieces, $14.95 for the Veggie to $17.95 for Salmon & Shrimp Tempura.

Combos range from $12.95 for the 12-piece Ocean Twelve and the 10-piece Ninja Combo up to $39.95 for the 26-piece Fusion. The 16-piece Lotus at $14.95 is the best piece-for-dollar line in the section.

The other end of the menu is very small money. Bubble tea toppings — tapioca pearls, coconut jelly, rainbow jelly — are $0.50 each, the cheapest thing listed. Most sauces in the 39-item Extras section are $1.25, and a large bubble tea is $6.95 against $6.25 for a regular, a flat $0.70 step across every juice and milk flavour.

Do prices vary across Canada?

Sushi Shop is heavily franchised and its network is concentrated in Quebec, with locations elsewhere in Canada carrying different cost bases for fish, so the same 8-piece roll can be priced differently between provinces. Kiosks inside malls, transit hubs and grocery stores also tend to price above street-front stores. Everything shown here is before sales tax, which differs by province. The piece counts, however, hold everywhere — those are how the menu is built.
